Natural Dyeing
Brief
I oversaw the Natural Dyeing workshop at The Possible Zone, developed by Cass Cacoq. This workshop introduced students to the chemistry behind indigo dyes, cyanotypes, and clay resists, while incorporating engaging “side quests” like creating custom stencils using the CNC machine.
Though framed as a fiber arts workshop, this four-day intensive revealed the interconnectedness of tools within the makerspace. It fostered a sense of community, belonging, and collaboration, culminating in a student-led community dye bath.
